Facilities and resources

Our school offers a range of spaces, tools and resources to support student learning. Whether it’s for study, sport, creativity or technology, our learning environments and resources give students what they need to succeed.

Our school facilities

We offer a range of learning environments. They help students stay engaged, build confidence and enjoy every part of their school day. Our facilities may include:

Resources and technology

Our school uses modern technology and digital learning tools. Our resources help students learn, create and stay connected. As a NSW public school, we have access to shared programs and tools available to all schools in the state.

Design Thinking, Maker Space and 3D Printing

Students are explicitly taught Design Thinking to solve real life problems and 3D print prototypes and final designs.

Student learning takes place in different settings both inside the classroom and in makerspace Areas. Through participation in research projects it was found that when working in makerspaces students developed a range of 21st century capabilities; including creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, inquiry, design thinking, collaboration, autonomy, literacy, numeracy, scientific understanding, digital literacy, communication, reflective learning capabilities and resilience.

STEM Squad

Carlingford West Public School is proud to have the STEM Squad, a team of highly gifted Stage 3 students who have a genuine passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Led by Miss Brooke Westwood, the STEM Squad is central to fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and technical excellence across our school community.

Members of the STEM Squad are selected for their strong interest and aptitude in technology. They are engaged, always bringing enthusiasm, creative and critical thinking to everything they do. These students are not only active learners but also leaders, inspiring their peers through their dedication and positive attitude.

The STEM Squad is involved in a wide range of technology focused activities. They help teach other grades important skills, assist teachers with screen based lessons, and tackle technology related tasks around the school. The Squad works hands on with exciting tools such as Bee Bots, Spheros, robotics equipment, coding platforms, and even 3D printing. Through these activities, members develop crucial problem solving abilities and independent thinking skills, preparing them for the challenges of the future.

STEM at Carlingford West Public School is about more than just technology. It’s about encouraging students to think differently, approach problems creatively, and build confidence in their abilities. Our STEM Squad makes this vision a reality, helping teachers and classmates embrace technology and learn in new, innovative ways.

We take great pride in the STEM Squad and the important contribution they make to creating a dynamic and technology rich environment at Carlingford West Public School. Their dedication and skills are essential in helping our school achieve its mission of nurturing lifelong learners in the fields of STEM.
