The Debating Team
The Carlingford West Public School debating team achieved impressive success in the Premier's Debating Challenge by reaching the quarter-finals of the Western Sydney region in both 2023 and 2025. Their dedication, teamwork, and strong communication skills have made them a standout group in the regional debating circuit.
WriteOn
Congratulations to Nicole S (6A) who was presented a Gold Award at the State Library of NSW for her outstanding WriteOn entry!
This year, students responded to the stimulus quote “Could they be changing?” in a range of imaginative and complex ways, exploring topics related to personal growth, social transformation and the cycles of the natural world.
Nicole’s captivating story, "The Murmuration," takes us on a mesmerising journey through the eyes of Mara, a girl who senses a hidden message within the swirling movements of starlings. Nicole's vivid imagination, rich vocabulary, and eloquent storytelling brought this magical tale to life, impressing judges and readers alike.
We are incredibly proud of her and this incredible moment in her writing journey.
Year 6 LEGO Challenge
The Year 6 LEGO Challenge at Carlingford West Public School encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork as students design and build innovative LEGO models. This hands-on competition inspires critical thinking and collaboration, allowing students to showcase their engineering skills in a fun and engaging way. This year's theme, "Epic Adventure Challenge".
Year 6 Canberra Camp
The Year 6 Canberra Camp at Carlingford West Public School is an exciting educational experience where students explore Australia's capital city and its rich history. Through visits to key landmarks, museums, and government institutions, students gain a deeper understanding of the country's heritage, democracy, and culture while building lasting friendships and developing independence.
Sydney NorthWest Music Festival
Carlingford West Public School proudly participates in the Sydney NorthWest Music Festival by contributing through the combined primary choir. This annual event gives public schools the chance to showcase high-quality group performances, and our students demonstrate their musical talent and teamwork as part of this collaborative choir.
Muogamarra Experience
On Thursday, we took an excursion to Muogamarra. We all went on the bus full of excitement and chatted in quiet whispers. When we got there, everybody jumped off the bus while thanking the bus driver. We couldn’t wait to get started!
We soon met our park ranger, David, who told us to eat our crunch ‘n sip. Later, he gave us our own wildlife diary! We learnt of things beneath our feet and were taught the leaf cycle. My favourite part was when we drew our own special leaf. After that, we drew what we saw in the soil using mini microscopes. Finally, we packed our bags and got ready for the long hike ahead of us.
It was so tiring! We climbed up rocks and made an earth cake out of rocks using erosion. While we were hiking, we saw a display of colourful flowers along the track. Finally, we climbed to the top of the mountain called ‘The Trig.’ And what a spectacular sight it was! We had a bird eye view of all the trees and rocks beneath us. We drew pictures of the hills and had lunch near a shady spot at The Trig. Then, we trekked down the hill. I had to stop for 3 water breaks because it was so tiring! We stopped at a significant aboriginal sight which showed a carving of a whale that was pointing towards the other aboriginal sights. We learnt that it used to be a classroom for children like us and got thinner due to erosion. Next, we stopped at the last sight which showed us a view of a river and a terrible bushfire nearby. Finally, we bade goodbye to David and thanked him for being our guide for the day. And when we got out of the nature reserve, I remembered all the fun and memories that we have had together.

Cumberland High School Writing Project
3B took part in a writing project with students from Cumberland High School. The Year 7 students spent an afternoon in our classroom learning about their Year 3 buddy, their research enabling them to create a biographical Ebook. Then, 3B spent an afternoon in the new library at Cumberland and were presented with their published picture book. As the photos attest, both the Year 7 students and their Year 3 buddies had a fabulous time together reading through the books as well as being read to.
